Attorney Bio
Michael Gemstone, Esq. is a litigation attorney in the Virginia Beach office of Melone Hatley, P.C., where he brings over a decade of legal experience to his clients. As a Virginia Beach native, Michael has many years of experience in the General District, Juvenile and Domestic Relations, and Circuit Courts in Hampton Roads, handling a wide range of family law cases with a focus on divorce, custody, and support matters. His personal experience as a divorced father of two sons allows him to relate to his clients on a more personal level, providing them with both legal guidance and empathetic support.
Michael’s legal career began with an internship at the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia, where he assisted individuals in need with complex legal situations. After earning his Juris Doctorate degree from Appalachian School of Law, he entered private practice in 2011, focusing on a broad array of legal services.
Michael recognizes the profound impact skilled legal counsel can have on families in transition. Drawing from both his legal acumen and personal experience, he works tirelessly to protect his clients’ interests and help them confidently move forward. He has extensive experience negotiating with opposing counsel and participating in mediation and settlement conferences.
Outside his legal practice, Michael is a devoted father who prioritizes time with his sons, coaching their soccer team, fishing, and exploring the outdoors. Since 2019, he has served as head Coach for Beach FC Youth Soccer, mentoring young athletes and fostering teamwork. An avid sportsman, he spends his free time hiking, hunting, and being on the water. Michael is also passionate about carpentry, mechanics, and competitive shooting sports, bringing the same skill and precision to these endeavors as he does to his legal work.
