Jeffrey Ambrose, Esq. is an Associate Attorney at the Newport News office of Melone Hatley, P.C., bringing over a decade of courtroom experience to the firm.
A seasoned trial attorney, Jeff has over a decade of courtroom experience. He thrives in the courtroom, where he can exercise his skills in litigation and oral argument. Prior to joining Melone Hatley, Jeff founded his own law firm, dedicated to providing vigorous representation for clients facing complex legal challenges. Over the years, he has successfully handled hundreds of bench and jury trials, advocating for clients in high stakes cases including first-degree murder charges. Jeff also has extensive experience in family law and appellate matters, and he is deeply committed to being a trusted legal partner to individuals navigating some of life’s most difficult moments with skill, dedication, and unwavering advocacy.
Jeff believes that empathy and patience are essential qualities in effective advocacy. He approaches every case with a client-centered mindset, recognizing that legal battles are often some of the most personal and stressful experiences people endure. By serving as both an ally and an advocate, he ensures his clients navigate the legal system with confidence and clarity.
Jeff earned his J.D. from William & Mary Law School, where he gained insight into the judicial decision-making process while clerking at the Office of Administrative Law Judges in Newport News. He previously attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan, graduating with honors with a double major in Computer Science and Political Science and a minor in Mathematics.
Originally from Midland, Michigan, Jeff has a strong commitment to public service, including pro bono work for Legal Aid, where he assisted underprivileged individuals in obtaining uncontested divorces.
Now residing in the Hampton Roads area, Jeff is a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, an accomplished jazz saxophonist, and an avid reader.
