Attorney Bio
Darley joined Melone Hatley, P.C. as a Litigation Attorney, opening the Newport News office in 2024. Growing up in a blended family, Darley has had the fortune of seeing how truly putting the children’s interests first can benefit the whole family throughout their lives, but she knows her experience was one end of the spectrum, and every family’s dynamics and situation are different. Whether it’s negotiating an amicable agreement that best protects her client’s interests or going to trial zealously advocating for her client, Darley partners with her clients to keep them informed, counsel them through the process, and advocate on their behalf.
A Virginia native, Darley was born and raised in Virginia Beach and attended James Madison University (Go Dukes!) for her undergraduate education, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with minors in Criminal Justice and Dance. Darley attended law school in Jacksonville, Florida, where she was a member of both the Mock Trial Team and the top 5 nationally ranked Moot Court Honor Board.
Before narrowing her focus on family law matters, Darley worked for general practice firms representing clients in criminal defense, family law, estate planning, business formation, real estate, & other civil matters. With a passion for mental health and those who suffer from mental illnesses, Darley spent over a year of her career as a court-appointed guardian and conservator of an incapacitated adult, and she has represented respondents in involuntary civil commitment proceedings and related treatment hearings for over a decade.
Outside the office, Darley loves to give back to her community, which she does as a member of the Junior Woman’s Club of Williamsburg. She’s always listening to an audiobook and/or podcast, and has many craft projects on her to-do list, but right now, spending time with her husband and 3 young boys tends to take up most of her time, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
