Attorney Bio
Margaret Skinner joined Melone Hatley, P.C. in 2024 as a Litigation Attorney in the Richmond Office. With a passion for family law, Margaret is excited to contribute to a firm that is dedicated to providing exceptional legal advocacy and protecting the rights and interests of Virginian families. Originally from the Ginter Park neighborhood of Richmond, Margaret has always been fiercely protective of and passionate about her hometown and its residents.
She attended Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating Cum Laude with a BA in English Literature and a minor in Political Science. Her academic journey continued at Rutgers Law School in Newark, New Jersey, where she earned her Juris Doctor in 2023. During her time at Rutgers, Margaret focused on family law, taking specialized courses such as Adoption & Surrogacy, Domestic Violence, and Children and the Law.
Outside of work, Margaret enjoys spending time with her husband and pets—two dogs and two cats—and developing her independent passions of crochet and baking. Creating something from nothing and seeing it bring value to her loved ones gives her a sense balance and fulfillment. She also loves a good story. Whether it’s discovering her new favorite show or delving into a novel she’s read repeatedly, Margaret finds true joy in immersing herself in captivating narratives.
